Important facts

Drinking water
There is no need to buy bottled water in Aruba, the island’s tap water is pure and refreshing.

Money
Aruba’s local currency is the Aruban florin. US Dollars are widely accepted as well. Most shops and restaurants accept credit cards and debet cards.

Banks
Banks are open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The nearest ATM machine is located outside the Ting Wei Supermarket, which is about 2 minutes driving.

Get some fresh groceries and prepare a lovely home cooked meal.

Great for quick groceries like bread, fresh fruits, snacks and drinks close to the villa.

* Supermarket Super Food | 10 min. drive
Large supermarket where you can find everything you need. They offer a lot of Dutch products as well.

* Pharmacy Botica di Servicio Noord | 6 min. drive

Beaches

Aruba is famous for the best beaches in the world. These are some of our favorite beaches nearby:

* Boca Catalina & Tres Trapi | 4 min. drive
Great for snorkeling and spotting beautiful fish and sea turtles. Make sure to go early morning, around 7 AM, for the best results.

* Arashi Beach | 5 min. drive
A popular local beach at the lighthouse, bring your beach chairs and coolers and enjoy the day.

* Moomba Beach | 5 min. drive
Trendy beach bar where you can rent beach chairs and umbrellas and enjoy snacks and drinks. Enjoy great live music on Sunday night.

* Palm Beach | 5 min. drive
Beaches along the high rise hotels. You’ll find lots of restaurants, shops and bars.

* Eagle Beach | 10 min. drive
Wide, white sand beaches with a crystal clear ocean. Find yourself a spot in the shade under the trees or pick a public umbrella.

Sites

For some great sightseeing, we recommend to rent a car to get around. Make sure to visit:

* California Lighthouse | 5 min. drive
You will have a beautiful wide view over the island. At night you can enjoy lots of pretty lights.

* Alto Vista Chapel | 15 minutes drive
Enjoy the beautiful road that leads there (make a stop at the water tank for stunning views!) and light a candle for a loved one.

* Aruba Aloe factory & Aloe fields | 15 min. drive
To get a sense of Aruba’s history, visit the Aruba Aloe museum and factory for a free tour. A great place to buy some souvenirs!

* Arikok National Park | 30 min. drive
Enjoy Aruba’s nature and visit some unspoilt beaches on the north coast of the island.

Aruba has plenty of great restaurants! Here are some places we can recommend:

Moomba Beach, Palm Beach
Great for a casual lunch or dinner on the beach

* Eduardo’s Beach Shack, Palm Beach
Delicious fruit bowls and healthy plates for breakfast and lunch. 

* The Pelican Nest, Palm Beach
Dine on a pier above the ocean in Palm Beach

* El Faro Blanco, Arashi
Italian food, right under the lighthouse, great view 

* Gasparito, Palm Beach
Traditional Aruba restaurant with great local dishes at an original ‘cunucu’ house

* Don Jacinto, Oranjestad
Local restaurant with the best Colombian dishes on the island

* Zeerover, Savaneta
Very popular, simple restaurant at the ocean where you can eat fresh fish. Order by weight and fish of the day.

Shopping

You can definitely do some great shopping on the island as well.

* Paseo Herencia | 7 min. drive
A cosy outdoor shopping mall with many shops, restaurants and a cinema. At night they feature complimentary water shows every hour.

* Palm Beach shopping area | 7 min. drive
Plenty of (souvenir) shops along the high rise hotel area of Palm Beach.

* Renaissance Mall Oranjestad | 15-minute drive
Luxury shopping mall with all the famous brands like Louis Vuitton, Prada and Gucci.

* Renaissance Marketplace Oranjestad | 15 min. drive
A great outdoor shopping mall near the marine of Oranjestad. Free parking for three hours.

* Downtown Oranjestad | 15 min. drive
Explore the streets of downtown Oranjestad with some authentic shops like the Pastechi House.

Sports

Aruba is great for sports! make sure to apply lots of sunscreen before you go out.

* Tierra del Sol Golf Course | 4 min. drive
Enjoy a great game of golf at just minutes from the villa. There is a great gym at the club house as well.

* Aruba Racquet Club | 3 min. drive
Exclusive tennis club with well maintained  tennis courts (hard court), a gym and a swimming pool.

* Wind- and Kite Surfing | 5 min. drive
At the Fishermen’s Huts in Malmok you can get lessons or rent surfing equipment.

* Snorkeling | 4 min. drive
Visit Boca Catalina Beach or Tres Trapi for great snorkeling. Go early and you might even see some sea turtles!
